Beginning Calligraphy Workshop
with Professional Calligrapher Kathleen Rugel

In this workshop you will learn basic fonts and their uses, and get an introduction to calligraphy materials. You will also learn how to introduce color into your lettering using watercolor.
You will begin with warm-up exercises, then move on to practice basic strokes & lettering styles to produce your own small quote or lettering. Kathleen will have samples on hand for you to view. Your instructor Kathleen Rugel has practiced calligraphy for over 40 years. She has worked professionally as a commercial calligrapher since 1981, producing logos and other lettering used in advertising for companies such as FedEx, Holiday Inn, and Dr. Scholl’s, as well as hospitals, colleges and individuals. Her work has been presented to 6 Nobel Laureates, Pope John Paul II, Madam Jihan Sadat, and other local, national and international dignitaries.
