‘Encaustic’ means painting with beeswax and the possibilities are endless with this fun medium! You will learn how to make an encaustic medium from scratch, how to melt and mix colors, how to create a variety of surface techniques, incorporate collage, and more. This class is great for someone new to encaustics, a more
advanced crafter, or even a fine artist looking for some inspiration. All materials will be provided in your fee and you will leave with a finished piece! Come by and view the three encaustic paintings by Sarah on view up front.
No experience needed; just openness to learn and try new things.
Materials: All provided in fee
-two wood panels to paint on
-oil paints, oil pastels, turpentine, etc.
-basic tools: brushes, heating elements, scratching implements, etc.
:::: Sarah received her BFA in Art Education from UGA in 2001 and has taught children and adults of all ages for 10 years. She taught herself how to paint with encaustics and has shown her work in California, Colorado, and throughout the Southeast. She is currently represented by Gregg Irby Fine Art in Atlanta, GA.
