Carol John Drawing

Carol John, right, poses by her drawing with Didi Dunphy, the curator of the exhibition at The Hudgens Center in Atlanta.

Local artist and designer Carol John made this new drawing with materials sourced wholly from us at The Loft! She used a roll of rice paper and Prisma Color Thick-Core Colored Pencils, including several of the new neon hues. A reminder, these pencils are on sale everyday at $1.45 (ahem, cheaper than Michael’s!)

This drawing is part of the Drawn: From Athens show that just opened at The Hudgens Center in Atlanta. The exhibit was originally put together for Hotel Indigo here in Athens which hung earlier this year. It was expanded for the Hudgens Center and a new audience, and features Athens artists who use drawing as a major part of their artwork. Artist and designer Didi Dunphy curated both shows. (PS, Loft Manager Leslie Snipes also has 25 new drawings hanging in the show, made with Microns, graph paper, and matboard, also from The Loft.)

The show runs through August 25th. A walk-through gallery talk with the curator will happen this Saturday, June 16th, from 11am-12 noon.

Thanks, Carol, for giving us permission to use you as our poster child!

Carol’s other projects include the design/build company DOC Unlimited which she runs with her husband, artist and designer Carl Martin, and the Athens Design Development (or A.D.D.) which is a collective design team of Athens artists/designers (including curator Didi Dunphy).
